Taste Winter With Us…

It’s the arrival of one of our favourite seasons. Winter at the wild Lizard brings dramatic storms, with epic waves crashing against the coastline. We witness beautiful winter sunsets, where the sky is filled with colour. We spend time getting cosy by the crackling fire, and warming up from crisp walks along the coast. Inspired by the season, and our natural surroundings, we bring this drama, warmth, and beauty of winter into our new menus at Marconi’s, The Terrace and Fallowfields.

Winter brings delicious new seasonal ingredients and produce which we celebrate in our new dishes. Such as kale, which can withstand colder temperatures and is harvested during winter. We serve this tasty winter vegetable with our new wild mushroom, truffle & parmesan roasted garlic risotto at The Terrace. Our local seafood supplier from Cadgwith now has mussels available, this winter we are serving them with chorizo, roasted garlic, pangrattato and a rich parsley & cream sauce.

We got chatting with our Head Chef, Joseph Fallowfield, to find out more about what he loves about this season, and what has influenced our new menus.

Why We Love Winter

“As the days get shorter the food gets boozier… I love winter and the richness of the produce which becomes available in this season.”

After a day embracing the elements outside, it definitely helps having a boozy treat to warm up the body! Such as our nutmeg & custard tart, which is served with mulled plum, mincemeat and blackberry & red wine sorbet at Fallowfields, available on our tasting menu. Or our new limited edition Festive Mincemeat. It’s a delicious mixture of dried fruit, spices and some booze for that extra kick! You can take home with you and get ready to bake your own mince pies and Christmas cake.

Seasonal Ingredients

“Alongside a wave of new fresh winter root vegetables, we start to use everything we have preserved from earlier in the year; cherries preserved in a fiery brandy, plums into a spiced compote and rich indulgent zesty mincemeat.”

This Winter at The Terrace we have new delicious sides to share with you. From House fries with truffle & parmesan, to roasted root vegetables, with honey, garlic, & rosemary - a real taste of winter!

Favourite Dish?

“My favourite has to be the custard tart from the Fallowfields' desert menu, which has a touch of mincemeat. It’s the flavours of Christmas with a texture like creme brûlée, served with a red wine and blackberry sorbet.”

It’s Not Just About The food…

“We have changed our wine list to offer a few more items which are a bit more “hearty” including an incredible Port which is a highly recommended method of finishing dinner!”

Not only do we have a new wine menu, we also have some new special new winter cocktails. Perfect to enjoy by the crackling fire at Marconi’s. One of our favourites is our ‘Chocolate Orange Martini’, a delicious indulgent treat for this festive season.
