Why Walk The South West Coastal Path
The Lizard is home to many amazing sights, from rare flora, dramatic weather and wildlife, but it’s also home to the South West Coastal Path. We’re fortunate to have this path run right past the end of our very garden. We love, cherish and know this path well, but do you know some facts about this pretty wild route through the Cornish coast? Discover them, and let us tempt you to dare to go wild this winter…
Why you should walk the South West Coastal Path;
Get To Walk The Likes of Mount Everest.
Did you know that walking the entire South West Coast Path is actually the equivalent to scaling the world’s tallest mountain, not once but four times! That’s right, with 115,000 feet of ascent and descent the Coast Path rivals the likes of Mount Everest.
Step On Both The Most Western and Southerly Points Of The UK.
This walk takes you to not just one, but two of the furthest reaches of the UK. Not many can say they’ve stepped foot on some of the tip most edges of the whole country…twice.
Walk Through Movie Sets.
If some of the locations seem a little familiar, that’s because they are! The Lizard and other areas along this walk are used as the backdrops to some rather well known TV series. From Poldark, to newer series such as House of Dragon. In fact in general these beautiful areas along the route have inspired much creativity with generations of craftspeople, writers and musicians.
Be Surrounded By Outstanding Beauty.
Did you know approximately 71% of the Path is in either a National Park or Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Not just this, but you will also pass through two World Heritage Sites! Nothing quite like a walk with a stunning backdrop to match.
